This website is devoted to the study of Petrus Hispanus (Eng. Peter of Spain or better Peter Hispanic), alias Petrus Hispanus, Petrus Hispanus Portugalensis, Petrus Lusitanus, Petrus Compostellanus, Petrus Juliani, Johannes papa XXI, etc.).
These pages are intended to contribute to: 1) gather and provide relevant materials (texts, studies, bibliographies, links) for research on every aspect related to the 13th C. author Petrus Hispanus: biography, works, thinking, influence; 2) discuss hypotheses regarding the identification of the author and the definition of the "corpus petrinicum" or the "corpora petrinica"; 3) present and compare the different hypotheses and interpretations of the thought conveyed by these works, 4) promote the study of these works in the context of Medieval Philosophy, sciences and culture, 5) studi the transmission of the Tractatus and the tradition of commenatries across European universities until the 17th. Century.
The site depends heavily on the research and publications José meirinhos devoted to the "Petrus Hispanus questions" for over 20 years.
All the contributions, suggestions and comments that can improve its content are very wellcomed.
The project: Critical Edition and Study of the Works Attributed do Petrus Hispanus - 1 was funded by the Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia (Ref. PTDC/MHC-FIL/0216/2014) from 1st May 2016 to 30th November 2019.

Estas páginas pretendem contribuir para: 1) reunir e disponibilizar materiais relevantes (textos, estudos, bibliografias, ligações) para a investigação sobre todos os aspectos relacionados com Petrus Hispanus: biografia, obras, pensamento, influência; 2) discutir hipóteses quanto à identificação do autor ou autores e às obras que lhe estão atribuídas, para a definição de um corpus petrinicum ou de corpora petrinica; 3) confrontar as diferentes hipóteses e interpretações sobre o pensamento transmitido por essas obras; 4) promover o estudo destas obras no âmbito da Filosofia, das ciências e da cultura medievais; 5) estudar a transmissão dos Tractatus e a tradição de comentários dessa obra em universidades europeias até ao século XVII.
O conteúdo do site depende em grade parte das pesquisas e publicações que José Meirinhos dedicou à "questão Pedro Hispano" desde há mais de 20 anos.
Todos os contributos, sugestões e comentários que sejam enviadas para o melhorar são bem vindos.
O projeto Critical Edition and Study of the Works Attributed do Petrus Hispanus - 1 foi financiado pela Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia (Ref. PTDC/MHC-FIL/0216/2014). Com início a 01.05.2016 terminou a 30.10.2019.
