Description
Diagram, at the end of an explanation to the Tables used for finding the moveable feasts, the age of the moon, the golden number and the hour of the new moon. In the Church’s calendar, Christmas and saints’ days have fixed dates in the solar cycle, whereas Easter’s feasts are calculated according to the lunar cycle. Easter was celebrated on the first Sunday after the first full moon following the vernal equinox (the spring date of equal lenghts of day and night). With the Tables it is possible to calculate the dates of moveable feasts in the liturgical Year. It is possible to find the date for Easter by using the golden number and dominical letter.
