Justiça, Cidade e Natureza
Justice, City and Nature
In a distinctly urban century, marked by the complexification of social, economic, political and ecological problems characteristic of the capitalist model, and intensified by social acceleration, in its most diverse technological and biopolitical expressions, the commitment of Ethics and Political Philosophy entails the destabilisation and/or decolonisation of traditional models of thought and action, demanding an integrated reflection and interpretation of some of the most relevant phenomena substantiated by global transformations. The problematisation of the connections between species and between species and the planet, as well as the technological expansion and the marks of the Anthropocene carve out of the anthropos the multiple so-called "non-human" dimensions which constitute and transform it. In this sense, city and nature are increasingly distancing themselves from simple disjunctions like urban or rural, natural or cultural, encouraging the replacement of a mechanistic and domineering paradigm with one distinguished by complexity and interdependence.
The new edition of the PPS Talks aims to both monitor and analyse the transfiguration of our own relations with nature, with the city and the relationship between the two, discerning the resulting implications for the construction of the common good, human mobility, sustainability, identities, and ways of life or even the virtual experience of the world, calling for a vigilant debate on justice, be it social, environmental or spatial.
